About Ramadhan

Today, we discussed about the upcoming blessed month of Ramadhan. A week more and MasyaAllah I pray that we all get to reach it.

Most of us grew up being told that Ramadhan is a fasting month. You don’t get to eat and drink from dusk till dawn and reason for this is, so that we could feel the hunger the homeless and unfortunate feel on a daily basis. Really? That’s all?

Of course not... Ramadhan is also the month where Syaitans are handcuffed and locked away in hellfire and we will all live happily without the whispers of the devil.  What else?

Ramadhan is the month when we can get our Kathira, Bubur Masjid and Dengdeng from Bazaar and eat a table full of food at iftaar. And we do that for 30 days and then celebrate Syawal with new clothes, hair, bags and shoes because well, we fasted the whole of Ramadhan, Hello?!

Really? Is Ramadhan, all about that?

Ayden was so happy that starting from next week, the gates of Jannah will open and “…we can smell the sweet smell of Jannah!” MasyaAllah! How true! Ramadhan is indeed the month for us to smell the sweetness scent of Jannah because well, Iblees are not around to poke and provoke. Life will be peaceful!

I never see the true beauty of Ramadhan till last year. Allah opens the eyes of those who want to see, indeed. It’s the month of pardoning and mercy. Allah is giving us a free pass to cleanse away all of our sins and get closer to him. Why are we told to read and (try to) finish the Quran in Ramadhan? Because we could. What is really stopping us since Syaitan is not around to tell us not to bother? Our own nafs. And Ramadhan is the best time to beat that. Nafs. Ramadhan is the best time to battle with your inner demon because, that is the only demon around. Ourselves.

A week to Ramadhan. How do I prepare myself for this blessed month? I have a list, InsyaAllah. And I will try, my very best, to stay true and follow this list, Allahumma Aameen.

1.  To utilize my time effectively for Worship.
2.  To read the Quran diligently after every Fajr and before Maghrib.
3.  To memorise (at least) all of Juz ‘Amma.
4.  To do daily tafseer session before Maghrib OR after Fajr.
5.  To read and implement to life, more Hadiths and to understand the stories behind them.
6.  To Solat all Fardhu prayers on time and perform the Sunnah prayers diligently.

14. To control my eyes.
15. To control my desires.

17. To give and give.
18. To help and assist.
19. To give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
20. To make my intention clear with myself every time before sharing my intent and thoughts with others.
21. To not bother about buying new clothes, new shoes, new clutch, new hijab and concentrate on creating a new ME.
22. To work hard on Being ME, a woman, wife and mother whom Allah handpicked to be a Muslimah, than being the Muslimah that everyone wants to see and be.
23. To do more Tarbiyyah with my son. To make him love Islam more.
24. To make him understand The Pillars of Islam and Imaan.
25. To watch one Islamic lecture before bed every night before bed.
26. To make list every Saturday for the week ahead.
27. To keep a Ramadhan journal.

Hence the creation of this blog. InsyaAllah.

Ayden can’t wait for Ramadhan. I can’t wait for Ramadhan. Because Ramadhan is a blessed month, a holy month and we all would and could benefit majorly from it, for this life and the hereafter.

This year’s Ramadhan is gonna be beautiful. InsyaAllah. Allahumma Aameen!
